With the financing from the Green Climate Fund, the Adaptation Plan for the City of Yerevan in Armenia supported the Government of Armenia in formulating a national plan for climate change adaptation. Through an iterative process, the project focused on strengthening foundational capacities with the aim of institutionalizing them for long-term sustainability.
The project aims to address existing barriers, facilitate the prioritization of climate change adaptation investments in six priority sectors (water resources, agriculture, energy, health, tourism and infrastructure) in the two regions, as well as to develop adaptation plans and extend the identification of related issues on settlement and community levels.
The Project will also focus on local capacity building, specifically in impowering women and vulnerable groups. Ultimately, the goal is to help formulate and develop Yerevan Adaptation Plan to guide integrated climate action.
