With financing from the Green Climate Fund, the Adaptation Plan for the City of Yerevan in Armenia supported the Government of Armenia in formulating a national plan for climate change adaptation. Through an iterative process, the project focused on strengthening foundational capacities with the aim of institutionalizing them for long-term sustainability.
The project aimed to address existing barriers, facilitate the prioritization of climate change adaptation investments in priority sectors—such as water resources, agriculture, energy, health, tourism, and infrastructures. in two marzes, as well as at the settlement and the municipal levels, develop adaptation plans, and increase the identification of associated financing options.
The Project will also focus on strengthening local capacity, especially in support of women and vulnerable groups. Ultimately, the goal is to help formulate and develop the Yerevan Adaptation Plan to guide integrated climate action.
