Writers Resort represents two different epochs in Soviet modernist architecture – the 1930s Residential building of late Soviet avant-garde era and the 1960s Restaurant structure of Soviet Modernism both designed by two prominent Armenian architects Gevorg Kochar and Mikayel Mazmanyan.
Being involved in the conservation works of the building from 2016-2017, our team conducted a preliminary technical assessment of the building and was assigned to carry out its restoration and re-use proposal. The project is funded by the Getty Foundation’s “Keeping it Modern” project grant to Writers Union of Armenia.
