Commissioned by the Ministry of Environment, the Asian Development Bank entrusted ADWISE consulting company to develop a proposal on spatial planning regulations, including development criteria and guidelines, aimed to promote tourism in the Sevan National Park area.
Our organization acted as the project’s national consultant for spatial planning, implementing local deliverables of the project with Dutch urban planner Enno Zuidema and tourism consultant Nicolas Perre.
Over the last century, developments of the coastal areas of Lake Sevan have had quite a dramatic course. The highs and lows of water, alongside poor lake management during the independence period, have caused new problems arising from the impact of man-made hazards.
With the climate change challenges added to the existing convoluted issues, there is a need to reassess the situation and regulate the developments to promote tourism through a long-term planning program, utilizing a new toolkit for spatial planning.
